International Eco-energy Conference – Overview

The International Green Energy-Conference “Change on Energy now!” will take place from October 19th to October 21st 2009 in the South Tyrolean community Sand in Taufers. The co-operation of several co-organisers makes it possible to fall back on different competences in the areas of sustainability and renewable energy in particular and to seize them in a successful symbiosis.

The venue itself offers a downright exemplary alternative energy-mix of biomass utilisation, biogas, hydropower, photovoltaic and wind energy and pursues an extensive program of energy saving and efficiency as well as of environmentally friendly mobility. There is almost no need in explaining, that with the community Sand in Taufers the organising team is joined by someone who knows what they are talking about. Certainly the political framework of South Tyrol in general finally enables such a high commitment to a clean energy supply. Therefore the achievement of having both, the state government of South Tyrol and the South Tyrolean Association of Municipalities, participate is much more than just a symbolic gesture. The South Tyrolean Biomass Association, the local community of interest, on the other hand shows large knowledge in the practical use of renewable energies.

With the European Association for Rural Development and Village Renewal a partner gets involved, who shows experience at European level in the area of regional sustainability and raises great awareness with the exploring of the European Village Renewal Award, for which the supply with alternative sources of energy plays a major role. It is no coincident at all, that last year´s award winner happens to be Sand in Taufers.

After all the Austrian Biomass Association, who appears as main organiser, not only excels in high expertise but also in years of experience in arranging expert meetings and conferences – the International Green Energy-Conference is continued in the tradition of the Biomass-days, which have already been held fourteen times.
